Also nearby is the small village of Smiljani with the museum of the great scientist, inventor and engineer, Nikola Tesla. In the immediate vicinity of the Plitvice Lakes National Park, bordering the Karst valley of Korenica, there is the Mrsinj region boasting impressive natural beauty. The Mrsinj mountain trail starts at the entrance of the city of Korenica, if coming from the Plitvice Lakes National Park. The trail only gets steep during the last kilometres. After an hour and twenty minutes` slow walk, you reach the peak of Mrsinj hill, which offers a beautiful view of the town of Korenica, the whole valley of Korenica and the Lička Plješivica mountain range with its highest point named Gola Plješivica (1646 meters).
