Quinta do Bacelo [Apartments]

Situated 40 km from Porto and 5 km from the Douro River, this rustic 19th-century country house provides self-catering accommodation surrounded by peaceful vineyards and orchards in north Portugal.

Quinta do Bacêlo is flanked by a large garden with swimming pool, from where there is a magnificent view over the surrounding countryside. Shady greenery surrounds the pool should you wish to escape from the Portuguese sun.

The house has its own beautiful chapel, dedicated to St. Anthony.

Guests can try activities such as rock climbing and mountain biking. The nearby rivers of Douro and Tâmega afford the opportunity for countryside walks and fishing. There are thermal springs and a spa in the area (500 metres) and a golf club (30 km).

Historic Penafiel, featuring Quinta da Aveleda and the Municipal Museum, is within a 15-minute drive away. Guimaraes is 54 km from Quinta do Bacelo.

Please note that pets are allowed on request, and will be charged €5 per night.

By Car:
From Porto:
- Take the A1 to Penafiel/Vila Real.
- Exit at Penafiel Sul/Entre-os-Rios.
- Take the Road N106 in the direction of Entre-os-Rios (12 km).
- Turn left to Rio de Moinhos on the N312 (300 metres).
- On the left you see the the sign: Quinta do Bacêlo - Turismo Rural.

From Porto but by the Douro River:
- Take the N108 to Entre-os-Rios.
- Then take road 106 (5 km).
- Cross Termas de S. Vicente and turn right to Rio de Moinhos on the N312 (300 metres).
- On the the left you will see the sign `Quinta do Bacelo`.
