Prices of tickets vary depending on the ferry you take (from EUR 4 to EUR 11 per person). To Aghia Marina: There is a small company sailing daily directly from Piraeus Port to Aghia Marina. The trip takes approx 60 minutes and ticket prices are around EUR 6 per person (2007). From Aghia Marina, the hotel is a 5 minute walk. Just take the street to your left and you will find the hotel at the top of the road. The island of Aegina, in the middle of the Saronic Gulf (17 nautical miles south-west of Piraeus), has been at the crossroads of cultures and rival actions for many thousands of years - from the mythical Aiakeans to the Second World War. Despite its small area (83 square km), it offers great variety and has no reason to feel jealous of other "cosmopolitan" islands. The island is easily accessible by either ferry or hydrofoil. Timetables are displayed on the various ticket offices on the quay. Swimming, snorkelling, canoeing, windsurfing and pedal boats are available at the organised beach. Scuba diving and tennis are available nearby. To relax, take a walk in the surrounding woods. Bars, discos and tavernas are located in the village. For local sightseeing, the 5th century BC Temple of Aphaia, an interesting ancient monument with wonderful views over the Saronic Gulf, is only 2 km away. There are also a lot of historic monuments and sites of Aegina like Kapralos Museum, Hellanio Oros, Kolona Site, Aghios Nektarios Monastery and more. Rent a car: Renting a car in Aegina is a must if you want to tour the countryside and explore several attractions on the island.
