Icelandair Hotel Ranga ****This log cabin hotel has spectacular river and mountain views, as the stunning Icelandic landscape stretches away to the horizon in every direction. In the event of a no show or a cancellation in breach of this policy, an amount equivalent to one night average cost of accommodation will be charged. The hotel reserves the right to pre-authorise credit cards prior to arrival. The hotel is approximately 140 km from Reykjavik??™s Keflavik Airport. By Car: - From the airport take the main road to Reykjavik and follow signs for Route One (which is Iceland??™s main road running around the country). - Take Route One east, through the mountains towards Selfoss. - Travel through Selfoss and continue east towards Hella. - Pass through Hella and continue on east for another 8 km. - Turn right at the sign for the ranch. - The hotel is on the right-hand side. The hotel is situated just off Route One, Iceland??™s main road which circles the country. This location makes it an excellent base for exploring the spectacular natural wonders of Iceland??™s southern region. East Rangá River (50 m) - The river is famous for its salmon and is also a great spot for a walk. Hella (8 km) ??“ This small town takes its name from the local caves. It is said that Irish monks lived there when Iceland was first settled. Thorsmörk Preserve (40 km) - This protected national park has stunning scenery, fascinating wildlife and hiking trails. South Coast (50 km) ??“ Iceland??™s south coast has black beaches, spectacular glaciers and amazing waterfalls. Mount Hekla (50 km) ??“ Iceland??™s most active volcano is surrounded by hiking trails so that the area can be explored on foot. Thjorsadalur Valley (80 km) - One of the attractions here is a replica of a Viking farmhouse. Reykjavik (96 km) ??“ Iceland??™s capital is full of museums, art galleries, shops and restaurants, as well as being the centre of Iceland??™s nightlife. Landmannalaugar (100 km) ??“ A region full of hot springs and beautiful colourful landscapes created by the area??™s lively volcanic activity. There are many natural hot springs that can be bathed in and there are many hiking trails throughout the area. Blue Lagoon (130 km) ??“ This natural geothermal spa is one of Iceland??™s most visited attractions.
