The Thorpeness Hotel ***

Situated on the sunny Suffolk Heritage Coast, The Thorpeness Hotel offers modern rooms with picturesque views. It has a unique location next to the famous Thorpeness Meare, and is only 5 minutes’ walk from the beach.

Fresh, Suffolk breakfasts are served in the restaurant overlooking the golf course. Traditional and modern dishes are available, and guests can dine on the terrace or in the gardens during summer.

The Thorpeness Hotel includes 2 bars serving light meals and a selection of drinks throughout the day. A range of award-winning beers and wines are available.

The surrounding area is famous for its music, poetry and literary festivals. Guests can enjoy the nearby coastal trails for walking and cycling, as well as boating on the lake, or golfing on the 18-hole course. Tennis at Thorpeness Country Club is available for free most of the year.

For bed and breakfast guests golf is subject to availability, charged at the current green fee rate.

A Handicap certificate issued by the guests own golf club is required to play.

From London and the South East:

from the M25, exit at junction 28 onto the a12. Follow to north of Ipswich and then take the a1094. Local signposting will take you into Aldeburgh or Thorpeness.

From the Midlands :
take the A14 or join it at the most convenient point. Follow to Ipswich and pick up the A12 (north). Directions as from London/South East then apply.

The closest station is Saxmundham, which is six miles away and only two hours from Liverpool Street. Taxis can be arranged from the station.
