The B & B is less than 5 minutes from the main Scottish M74 motorway (Jct. 18). An ideal base for touring Scotland, The Lake District and the North of England. Gretna Green is 20 minutes away if you are planning on getting married or attending a wedding. Cooked to order breakfast served in the privacy of your own room, included in the tariff. Early breakfasts before 8am - no problem if booked the evening before. The cottage bedrooms are all at ground floor level making them easily accessible. Bluebell, in particular, is favourable for a wheelchair user as it is spacious and the bathroom has a deep bath with a modern assisted access facility, as well as a power shower over the bath. If in doubt about accessibility, please contact us prior to booking to ensure our facilities meet with your requirements. South Hayrigg Cottage provides excellent standards throughout with many extras and is great value for money. Breakfast is served from 08:00 until 09:00. Reservations must be cancelled one day in advance of your arrival date. In the event of a no show or a cancellation in breach of this policy, an amount equivalent to one night average cost of accommodation will be charged. The hotel reserves the right to pre-authorise credit cards prior to arrival. BOOKING - Please note that Full Payment is taken at the time of Booking and our Cancellation Policy is outlined below: CANCELLATION POLICY - A refund will be returned to the Guests debit/credit card, less 2% administration fee, providing the cancellation is received in writing via email prior to 24 hours of the due arrival date. In the event that a cancellation is received within the 24 hours of the due arrival one nights stay per room booked will be charged plus 2% administration fee and the remainder due will be refunded. TARIFF - All bookings are made on a Room basis per night and not per person. With this in mind there is no reduction for children or for single occupancy. ACCESSIBILITY - The cottage is accessible for most wheelchairs, however, we consider Bluebell to be the most suitable. We are unable to provide individual physical care for Guests and the individual should be independent or accompanied. If you are in any doubt regarding accessibility please contact us prior to Booking. ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR - We value each and every one of our Guests and we will not tolerate undue consideration for others staying here. DAMAGE TO ROOMS OR PUBLIC AREAS - Unreasonable damage to rooms, excepting accidents, will be charged to the Guests Payment Card. In the event that room and entrance keys are lost or taken it will be at the discretion of the Owners if a charge is made to replace locks and keys. PLEASE NOTE THAT IN SCOTLAND IT IS ILLEGAL TO SMOKE IN HOTELS/BARS AND MANY OTHER PUBLIC BUILDINGS. This applies to South Hayrigg Cottage which indoors is strictly non-smoking. How to find South Hayrigg Cottage: If travelling North on M74 towards Lockerbie, leave the motorway at Jct. 18. At end of the slip road take a right at the T junction signposted to Lockerbie. Continue on this road until you reach the small roundabout. To your left you will see the Queen`s Hotel and at the roundabout you will notice a sign for Dalton pointing to the left. Take a left turn here and do not go into Lockerbie. Continue up the Dalton Road until you reach the first corner and private road which is on the right hand side. South Hayrigg Cottage is directly on the corner here and has a bed and breakfast sign outside. If travelling South on M74, towards Lockerbie leave the motorway at Jct. 17. At the end of the slip road take a left at the T junction signposted Lockerbie. Proceed to the next junction and take a right signposted to Lockerbie. Continue on through the town and as is you are heading outwards. You will have passed the post office and the police station on your left hand side. At the small roundabout, go straight over on to the Dalton Road. You will notice the Queens Hotel to your left. Continue up the Dalton Road until you reach the first corner and private road which is on the right hand side. At our reception area there is a selection of useful and informative brochures for our Guests to have a look through. The Lockerbie Library also has a very good selection of additional information.
