Currarevagh House ****In this Victorian country manor, romantically situated in 180 acres of private woodland, you can enjoy 4-star quality accommodation on the shores of Lough Corrib. Built by the present owner’s ancestors in 1842, it is still run more like a private country house than as a hotel. As such, the tranquil informality lends itself to those seeking relaxing days in a true Irish country house. We offer an oasis of privacy for guests in an idyllic, undisturbed natural environment, providing exceptional personal service with a high standard of accommodation and old fashioned, traditional character. With a cuisine based on fresh, local produce, Currarevagh House has gained many accolades in the better known hotel and food guides, as well as the international press. Breakfast is a lavish affair true to its Edwardian roots. Each morning this feast is laid out on the dining room side board, with freshly squeezed juice, full Irish breakfast and more as our specialities. Afternoon tea is a well-known practice enjoyed by many. A selection of teas is served in the drawing room, along with our own fruitcakes, sponge cakes and seasonal specialities. Cucumber sandwiches, hot drop pancakes, and scones of many varieties all feature. Afternoon tea from 16:30 to 18:00 is not to be missed and only for residents. Each evening, a 4-course dinner is served. Our focus is on classically simple menus based on fresh, local produce. The menu changes daily to reflect the seasons and what is available. Main courses are silver-served by our ever-friendly staff so you may take as much as you want! Currarevagh House is fully-licensed to sell wines, spirits and beers to residents. Our unique hatch bar features a well-selected wine list with vintage ports, many varieties of whiskeys and a full array of spirits. Cocktails can be prepared on request, and we have over 60 bins of well-chosen wines. By Plane: Galway Airport is 40 minutes away. Shannon Airport is 80 minutes away. Knock Airport is 90 minutes away.
