Kaprun is famous with skiers as a grand winter sports resort. The Kitzsteinhorn glacier is open nearly year round so you can always enjoy the permanent snow. A second major skiing area. the Schmittenhöhe is located on the slopes overlooking Zell am See. In addition to winter sports. there is a great deal to do during the rest of the year in the direct vicinity. with plenty of water sports options. rafting or wild-water canoeing. canyoning. walking. mountain biking or hitting a couple of balls on the beautiful 2x18-hole golf course which can be reached in only a few minutes. Popular excursions in the region are Salzburg Mozart s city . Hohenwerfen castle and the Großglockner which can all be reached in less than 1 hour by car.
