Arriving by bus: At the weekend, public buses run from various cities in South Germany to Bodenmais. Nearby you can visit Bodenmais with its glassblowing works, wooden carvings, spa centre and gardens. On the Silberberg mountain (955 metres high) you can visit an old mine and go downhill or cross-country skiing. Within 15 km you can visit Bröbrach with its distillery. The Großer Arber mountain offers a panoramic cable-car, ski slopes, lakes and hiking paths. Zwiesel is famous for its glassmaking, forest museum and church. Bayerisch Eisenstein is a spa town near the Czech border and boasts a railway museum. Rinchnach features a monastery. All within 40 km, Kötzting is famous for its whisky distillery and casino, and Spiegelau for its glassworks and Winkel/Osser hiking area.
