This is a vast and unique natural area that is best explored by canoe or electric boat. These are available for rent. Naturally, the surrounding area is perfect for hiking and cycling. The village of Giethoorn is sometimes called the Venice of the north, a name inspired by its beautiful waterways and many bridges. For the younger guests, a daytrip to the Slagharen or Walibi amusement parks (both about 50 km away) makes for a great excursion. The cities of Meppel (about 16 km away), Zwolle (about 33 km away) and Assen (about 64 km away) are well worth a visit, both for their cultural offerings and their charming atmosphere. Considering the unique location of Waterresort Bodelaeke and the variety of options that the area offers, you are sure to find a fun time for everyone here.
