From 1822 to 1833, the Bärenturm (Bear Tower) actually hosted 2 young bears, a present from Prince Ferdinand von Coburg-Cobary. A residence for the functionary Florschütz, private tutor to Princes Ernst and Albert, was added in subsequent years.
